Dr. Melanie Agustin PhD, LPC

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor who specializes in working with adolescents and their families using a family-centered and trauma-informed approach. I believe that meaningful healing happens when children feel safe, understood,

and supported—and when caregivers are empowered as active partners in the counseling process.

My experience involves providing care within pediatric medical and integrated behavioral health settings, supporting families navigating trauma, anxiety, mood concerns, crisis experiences, and significant life or medical transitions. My work is grounded in developmentally appropriate, compassionate care that honors individual emotional needs while strengthening family connection, communication, and resilience.

My therapeutic approach draws from theory-based, trauma-responsive practices, and collaborative care models. I work closely with caregivers and, when appropriate, multidisciplinary providers to ensure counseling is coordinated and responsive to the whole individual within the context of their family, school, and community.

In addition to my clinical work, I am an educator and supervisor who has taught and mentored counselors-in-training within CACREP-accredited programs. I have presented nationally and inte

rnationally on pediatric mental health, family systems, and ethical practice.

I have over a decade of global nonprofit and medical mission experience, supporting children and families through comprehensive, interdisciplinary care programs. This background inspires my commitment to culturally responsive, relationship-based care that respects each family’s strengths, values, and lived experiences.
